Desertification
Came across an interesting read and thought to share some parts which inspired us…
Desertification means the degradation of land and its consequent becoming arid
W-Lab @wilddesignstudio have been designing a potential answer for us to inhabit desertified climates. W-Lab has a plan to build self-sufficient villages where people can live in arid climates. Architect Carlos Bausa ventured into designing high-tech and self-sufficient biocabins for eroded climates, built in biological and sustainable materials.
He says, ‘we need to think about the building as something that will produce its own resources rather than consuming them.’
The biocabins structures and finishes will be built in materials deriving from agave plants (will never look at these the same again ) as they are easy to grow in arid climates and successful existing bio-construction projects have been developed using agave as a building material.
A space for growing vegetables is part of their cabin design, with a robotic arm to take care of planting and harvesting the products all year long
