Planning and Design Stage explained...
Once you have purchased your block of land, then the excitement begins 🎉 During the planning and design stage you will be able to communicate with an architect or building designer exactly what you want to include in your new home. This stage involves regular meetings and communication in order for an accurate design to be created. Decisions are made, alterations are made and building a house starts to become a reality.
😉 HINT: Make sure you keep in mind any budget restrictions you may have. Clients should always ask the architect/building designer: "Do you think that is achievable for the budget I have?”
🤔 What is the difference between a building designer and an architect?
Put simply, architects cost more, because they have received the most training, however, it is up to you and the type of project you need help with, as to who you choose to work with.
🤔Do you choose your builder or architect first?
It doesn’t matter who you choose first, but what really matters most is that you bring BOTH of them on board at the start of the architectural design process. They both bring unique perspectives, skillsets, ideas, and expertise to the table, and you will want to benefit from the magic that results from their collaboration. 😉 HINT: Build your Dream Team early! If you find an architect you want to work with, be sure to ask if he or she is willing to collaborate early with your builder. If you decide to find a builder first, learn if the builder is able to work well with an architect.
